Fake Anti-Virus Programs

Recently, we’ve been dealing with an increasing number of customers who have fallen victim to fake anti-virus programs.
The fake anti-virus scam is one of the most devious and effective hoaxes of recent years.
These rogue anti-virus programs take over users’ computers and display alarming warning messages telling them that their computers are infected and that they should pay for the software in order to remove the infections.
Security Tool 2011 is one of the more recent fake anti-virus programs that will take your computer hostage until you pay the ransom. Any attempt to run a legitimate program will result in a box warning you that Security Tool 2011 has detected a malicious program, making your computer unusable and removal of Security Tool 2011 seemingly impossible.
If your computer is infected by one these fake anti-virus programs, then you must absolutely not attempt to buy the software. Not only is the software ineffective at removing infections, it will almost certainly harvest your credit card information.
If you believe you may have attempted to pay for one of these programs then you should contact your credit card provider immediately and have your account stopped and a new account issued.
